The first major fundraising event of the newly-formed Graham Wylie Foundation will see some of the leading names in music perform in the North East at the launch of the inaugural Run, Rock n Raise, ‘Making Every Note Count’, concert.

Lisbon to join Run, Rock n Raise line-up for the Graham Wylie Foundation

Whitley Bay band Lisbon is the latest act to join the line-up for the Graham Wylie Foundation’s Run, Rock n Raise gig.

The alternative four-piece formed four years ago when members Matty Varty, Gaz Turkington, Alex Wright and Joe Atkinson got together while they were at sixth form at Whitley Bay High School.

Already, they have released six singles and a debut EP and have just finished their second UK tour of 2016.

Now, the quartet is set to join the Kaiser Chiefs and Irish rock band Kodaline at Run, Rock n Raise on the evening of September 11th, the day of the Great North Run.

The charity gig is raising money for the Graham Wylie Foundation, the Teenage Cancer Trust and music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins. All money raised will stay in the region.

Lisbon lead singer Matty Varty said: “This is going to be one of those bucket list gigs where we get to fulfil a massive dream of ours. To be playing the biggest venue in Newcastle, and representing such important causes whilst doing so is really quite special.

“We can’t wait to put on one of the best shows this city has ever seen, and I’m sure alongside Kaiser Chiefs and Kodaline we can do that.”

Run, Rock n Raise is in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and the Graham Wylie Foundation. All money raised will stay in the region.

Angie Jenkison, the Foundation’s chief executive, said: “As all the money raised is staying in the North East it is important that the young, vibrant music scene of the area is represented and Lisbon is definitely one of the best. I’m sure they will bring some fantastic Geordie energy to the party.”

Launched last month by entrepreneur Graham Wylie, co-founder of The Sage Group plc, the Graham Wylie Foundation is one of the few charities anywhere in the world to hand 100% of donations to deserving causes.

Graham is meeting all running, staff and administration costs to ensure every penny raised and donated goes to help, inspire and educate vulnerable and underprivileged children across the region.

Tickets costing £25.00 & £35.00 are available online, from the booking hotline number 0844 493 6666 or in person from the Metro Radio Arena Box Office.
