21st & 22nd May 2002
- Doors Open:
Tickets for the forthcoming Kylie concerts at the Telewest Arena Newcastle on the 21st & 22nd May 2002 went on sale Saturday 20th October to staggering public response.
Seats for the first show sold out within 50 minutes of release and when the arena secured a second date, both shows sold out within a record breaking 4 hours. This set a new sales record for the Telewest Arena by completely smashing the previous one set by Robbie Williams, who sold out two shows in 6 hours.
Telewest Arena Marketing Director Paul Tappenden said:- "Although we knew this would be a quick sell we are absolutely astounded at the response from North East fans. We are currently working hard in an attempt to secure a further date and we will know if this is a possibility within the week. As soon as we have any news we will post it on are web site www.telewestarena.co.uk."
KYLIE'S 2ND DATE
Due to staggering ticket sales for the KYLIE Minogue concert on the 21st May 2002 at the Telewest Arena Newcastle, we are delighted to announce the release of a second concert date, Wednesday 22nd May 2002.
Kylie, whose single 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' is at No.1 for the forth consecutive week, toured the UK, Europe and Australia earlier this year, in a show that had critics reaching for the superlatives. Extra dates had to added in every city to satisfy public demand, most notably in London where Kylie ended up playing seven nights at Hammersmith Apollo.
Since the incredible success of that tour, Minogue has been planning a new show, with staging expressly designed for Arena's. Audiences can expect a brand new show, completely different to previous tours.
"Can't Get You Out Of My Head' has now sold over 700,000 copies, making it the second biggest seller of Minogue's career. Kylie's album 'Fever' stays at No.1 for a second week, whilst the video/DVD 'Live In Sydney' does the same in the video chart.
Telewest Arena's Marketing Director Paul Tappenden said:- "The announcement of a second date at the Telewest Arena is a tremendous bonus, the rate of ticket sales has been phenomenal. We ask fans to be patient, and also use our website to book on-line at www.telewestarena.co.uk. Hopefully this will give all Kylie's North East fans a chance to see her live".
